John Mayer is beautiful

John Mayer last night was amazing. I love live music; it's something I crave when I don't get enough.
(crappy iphone pic of screen)

John Mayer is sexy. There's no better word to describe him. :)
I got my hair cut last week :) It's so much shorter and lighter and would have been perfect for summer, except that summer is almost over at this point. But whatevzz, it'll be great for fall too.
You may have noticed that I haven't been wearing a lot of handmade clothing lately....WELL. That's because I've been working too much and therefore shopping too much with my paychecks that I SHOULD be saving.

Like this whole outfit. Head to toe, everything down to the nail polish was purchased in the last month, if not in the last week.

And I used to hate bangles, but now all I want is to build up a massive collection.

romper, Marshall's, $7
cardigan, H&M, $10
shoes, Marshall's, $3 (SCORE!)
earrings, Claire's, $1
gold bangles, Claire's, $1
red/white/blue bangles, Claire's, $1
peach nail polish, Claire's, $1
blue nail polish, Delia's, $2?
eyeshadow, Urban Decay and MAC

I have the day off today and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

Being Samantha Jones

If I had to pick one Sex and the City character to identify with, it would certainly NOT be Samantha Jones. I'm too much of a romantic. I'm kind of prude. And I've always had this inexplicable belief that most (if not all) guys will take advantage of me if they can. The powerful and intimidating woman that Samantha is would totally say, "April, I'm not going to disagree with you - all men want sex. But this is a good thing! All men want is sex, all I want is sex, it's the perfect situation!"

Hah. Anyway. While I may not share the same beliefs as her, I still love her as a character who empowers women and totally rocks in her confidence.

And today, I felt like her in this outfit.

I was totally subconsciously channeling Samantha:
(perhaps my subconscious was telling me something...)

I just loved this outfit. It's all about the red! It's SUCH A GREAT COLOR. How did I not see this before!?
And with teal! Who knew?!
I made these earrings an eternity ago from this feather boa bracelet thing and a couple of good ole plastic pony beads!

More Samantha goodness:
Just looka' that RED!

who else is loving red at the moment?

another day, another dollar

I worked my second shift at my new job today, and it was much shorter than the first, so it went by very fast.

I also attended a good friend's grad party today, and it was so fun. We played Duck, Duck, Goose! It's fantastic to just be a four-year-old again, ya know?
In other news, my little sister is graduation from 8th grade tomorrow night, which is pretty crazy. She's going to be in high school in the fall! Ahh!
I mean, with my senior friends graduating high school, my sister graduation middle school, my complete and utter confusion over the SillyBandz trend, I feel SO OLD. And I'm only nineteen!
It's crazy how time flies. My next birthday is my 20th!! Granted, it's still in another like, 10 months, but still.

Another thing that makes me feel old? Toy Story 3. I went to see the very first one in theaters with my dad with I was only four years old. And I just went with my sister to the third. And can I just say how AMAZINGLYFANTASTICWONDERFULSPECTACULARINCREDIBLE it was?!
For serious. It's so perfect. Just PERFECT. GO SEE IT. NOW!!

World Wide Web Wednesdays (to be known as www.wednesday in the future)

I know I've been a terrible terrible blogger! I blame it entirely on not having a job. Because without a job, I have nothing to do. And without anything to do, I don't have anywhere to go. And without anywhere to go, I have no reason to get dressed. And without getting dressed...well, you know how it goes.
I've been sitting on my ass all day errday, watching Daria and DVDs from the library and Netflix, and Party Down.

The good thing is, I do have some schtuffss to show you, since all I do is internet. Internet is a verb.

First. Scouting New York. It's a great blog that I just discovered because of this post. As if I need more reasons to NEED WANT DIE to live in New York City.

This wedding invitation. Honestly, how perfect is that!? (via hotchocolateandmint)

I'm addicted to tea. Especially chai tea lattes. I would really like to make this.

Guys! I made a tumblr!! So while I'm not here, I'm probably there, as there is where I'm posting random shizz that's too boring to post here...so if you're looking for a semi-boring-er place....I guess you should go there.

I'm going to go watch Daria more now.

ACTUALLY. WAAAAAITAMINUTE.
I have this potentially great idea milling in my mind. It is a product. That I would create. And I would like to give one away to one of you! But this blog doesn't have a huge number of followers, so if anyone could point me in the direction of a blog that hosts giveaways, that would be WONDERFUL! Or if you would like to do a giveaway on your own blog, I would absolutely love that! Please let me know in the comments or through email!

i'm not your babe

I'm still interviewing for jobs.....sigh. I emailed my resume to at least, like, 15 places today. One called me right away to interview, so obviously I went. It's a part-time office job, but once again, they're interviewing many people for one opening, so I'll know by the end of the week.
What I wore:

ALSO LADY GAGA'S VIDEO FOR ALEJANDRO PREMIERED TODAY!! WATCH IT:

I bought these new awesome canvas sneaks at Urban Outfitters this morning. They were only ten bucks and I'm obsessed with this style of shoe. I think I'm gonna go back and buy even more!

In other news, my cell phone is out of commission :( It got stepped on last night and the screen cracked and it won't turn on. Boo.

recently watched movies

I have seen entirely TOO many movies lately. The combined force of me being home for winter break AND having Netflix is just bad. I've watched at least twelve movies. Here are eight.

Up in the Air

I absolutely LOVED this movie. It was perfect in every way. Made my Top 10 of All Time instantly after walking out of the theatre. It would have made my Top 5 but that's already been filled.

George Clooney is a lot older than me (ha) but he is sexy. All of the acting, directing, writing, everything was fantastic. GO SEE THIS MOVIE if you haven't already. And invite me! I'd gladly see it again :)

Sherlock Holmes

Oh, Robert Downey Jr. Oh, Jude Law. Oh, Rachel McAdams. I love you all.

Gigantic

Netflix recommended this movie. It was good, but weird. I didn't really get it until I stalked the IMDb forums about it. But still, Zooey Deschanel is another favorite of mine. And I really liked this coat she wore, so much that I took a screenshot to share:

Zooey is definitely a fashion inspiration.

Youth in Revolt

I am in LOVE with Michael Cera. And honestly, that is probably the only reasoned I shelled out eleven (yes, ELEVEN. damn you, Los Angeles) bucks to see this movie. I expected mediocrity. But I actually really loved it, beyond the whole Michael Cera being my one and only thing. He usually/always plays the same character, but in this, he was both himself and François Dillinger, French badass extraordinaire. He was a totally different personality and he did it well. And can I just tell you how much I fell even MORE in love with Michael Cera?! Now, I not only want Paulie Bleeker, Nick (avec ou sans Norah), Michael Cera (in Paper Heart), but I also want François Dillinger. PLEASE. thankyou.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

I found this movie on Netflix, along with a slew of other fashion-related documentaries. This just happened to be the first one I watched. It was really nice to see the man behind the famous red gowns (which he doesn't even really like!). Put me down as a fan of Mr. Valentino and this film.

The House Bunny

I cracked UP watching this movie. It was hilarious. My favorite line? "The eyes are the nipples of the face." Just so much goodness.

Vanity Fair

Reese Witherspoon is one of my favorite actresses. Legally Blonde is my all-time favorite movie (and I'm not embarassed one bit. Take that, episode of The Office in which Ryan the Temp starts a fire and everyone goes outside and hangs out in the parking lot!)

This movie was pretty enjoyable. That's really all I have to say about that.

Confessions of a Shopaholic (...sorta)
I had to force myself to read this book. It took all my willpower to get through it to the end. It was torture. All I wanted to do was track down the annoying-as-hell shopaholic, cut up all her credit cards and scream at her until she was too paralyzed to shop anymore.

Which is why I waited so long to watch the movie. It was sitting there all innocent in my Netflix Instant Queue, so I though, why not? At the very least, I can look at her crazy designer clothes. Well. I only got through the first half hour when I realized my hair was in danger of being ripped straight out of my scalp from the unbearable pain and anxiety I get from this movie/book franchise.

Maybe it's because I'm afraid that I'll become her when I'm older and get sucked into the vortex of credit cards. But seriously, I just want to tell her, Woman, get a hold of yourself.

Have you watched any good movies lately? Or any of the above gabajillion movies? What did you think?

april
