happy valentine's day

To be honest I'm always dismayed by the lack of enthusiasm for Valentine's Day. I know it's a Hallmark Holiday, and people are cynical, and it sucks for single people, and the expectations for a good valentine's day can be too much, and too much pink and red makes some people want to puke, but I CAN'T GET ENOUGH.

So I do my best to spread the cheer :)
Today, I made those cupcakes to give out to people in my dorm building.
They're strawberry and chocolate marble with pink vanilla icing and white hearts.

Yummm!

And I'm not the only one with Valentine's Day cheer - a friend was giving out these lollipops :]

And to wear today, even though it's Sunday and all that's on the agenda is cupcake baking and distributing and lots of homework, I made a Valentine's Day dress.
(Sans cardigan)

Whole outfit:
And see, it even has a cute little heart cut-out
Close up it's only sort of shoddy:
And the shoes.

[dress, made by me] [tights, H&M] [shoes, thrifted] [cardigan, H&M] [watch, NY&Co]

Question of the day: How do you feel about Valentine's Day?
Follow-up: How do you feel about the movie, Valentine's Day?
Oh, and of course, Happy Chinese New Year!

Or maybe your prefer this tiger
Or.....maybe not.

love (and some extra love today!) and right triangles,
april

April, you did such a good job on that dress! And you look so happy!

Okay, I should order my enjoyments
1. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cupcakes. with icing. that are hearts.
2. I should have given out lollipops if they were going to make people that glad
3. The cut out of the heart on the corner of your dress is genius. For some reason I never would have thought to put in such a little detail, but it perfects the Love theme that you can wear any time of year.

jealous points racked up for the day: 3+. Thanks for making someone's day awesome.

The cupcakes were a great idea! I agree with you about Valentines day! I think it's great; I have yet to have a boyfriend, but I don't think i need one to celebrate Valentines Day!:) Why not make heart shaped cookies and watch sappy chick flicks!?!?:):)

Happy Valentine's Day! I just saw this post. What a great dress I love it sooooo much. That cut-out heart is to die for. I do get excited about spreading love and joy to those around me! Boyfriend or not, it's a great "holiday" cuz it's all about LOVE! Yippee! Those cupcakes look divine, too. I'm sure everyone enjoyed them. You are wonderful.

That dress is adorable! I particularly like the heart cut-out, its funky and unique and makes any other accessorising unnecessary and I might steal that idea some day....;D
What a sweet friend you are making cupcakes to share, I wish I lived in your neighbourhood!!

I'm w/You!

I LOVE Valentine's Day.

If you are alone, you get to express all your love for yourself. It's not always great being w/someone else and you will always be very well acquainted w/yourself so be kind and loving to yourself and..

Celebrate Valentine's Day!

I happen to really love it (almost as much as Christmas) and added bonus - my birthday is the day after!

Ah, another year of the tiger - I was born in one too!
